CONSERVATION
With over three decades of hands-on conservation in South Africa and other Sub-Saharan countries, Zuka Private Game Reserve is at the heart of Tara and Jessica’s integrated model of conservation. This innovative legacy investment combines land restoration, preserving pristine wilderness and diverse habitats, protecting wildlife, community development, marine conservation and pioneering the multifaceted ecology venture, Getty Asterism.
In the United Kingdom, we are thrilled to support organisations who’s work reflects our deep passion in the conservation space.

BENEFICIARIES
Zuka Private Game Reserve
Founded by Tara and Jessica in 2001, Zuka Private Game Reserve is at the heart of their conservation model of interconnected impact; integrating the environment, wildlife, ecology, and marine conservation with rural social development.
Zuka Private Game Reserve is the cornerstone property of a pioneering land assembly and this progressive rewilding project has thus far expanded to 10,300 hectares of environmentally restored and protected northern Zululand.
This is where the story starts!
Wild Impact
Tara’s involvement with Wild Impact started at inception, and for over three decades now, Tara and Jessica have served as trustees, donors, advocates and fundraisers.
By supporting sustainable development of the communities that live in and adjacent to our wild spaces (including Zuka Private Game Reserve) and by working in partnership, we are actively advocating and achieving integrated restoration and conservation together. In addition, these areas are developing positively with meaningful socio-economic and entrepreneurial benefits.
Ocean Family Foundation
Tara and Jessica are co-founders of Ocean Family Foundation which launched in 2018.
Zuka Private Game Reserve as an integrated conservation model is connected to the Indian Ocean and, all the founding families are involved in the yachting world. From our collective energised responsibility to contribute positively towards conserving our life supporting marine biome, Ocean Family Foundation was born.
Ocean Family Foundation seeks out existing or start-up conservation projects that have a positive impact on marine life and ocean health across diverse global locations, including seascapes that are local or resonate with the family members. We enjoy these relationships and witnessing the valuable impact of each endeavour.
Tusk x Wildlife Ranger Challenge
Tusk, the UK charity established in 1990 has achieved much in conservation areas such as illegal wildlife trade, habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict. Tusk’s strong reputation and focus on funding, leadership, convening, collaborating and amplifying awareness has in turn, enhanced conservation capacity on the ground across Africa. H.R.H. The Prince of Wales, as Royal Patron for Tusk, supports Tusk’s team and serves as a powerful advocate.
Tusk’s annual Wildlife Ranger Challenge was initially launched in 2020 in response to the global crisis, which called for solidarity, connection and support for the ranger profession.
With our shared essence in the conservation endeavour, as Zuka Private Game Reserve we are fully engaged with Tusk’s Wildlife Ranger Challenge, participating first in 2022 and growing our event and fundraising year by year. This annual event unites our reserve’s rangers, all our staff, our partners and neighbours, with thousands of other rangers across Africa and, a common goal.
The challenge is a competitive series of push-up and sit-up challenges leading up to the main event; walking or running 5km or 10km, or for the courageous, the full 21km run through the reserve. Wildlife Ranger Challenge has become the highlight in Zuka’s calendar!
Our funds raised go to Oceans Without Borders Marine Rangers. Tusk have the immense support of The Scheinberg Relief Fund who generously commit match funding to support rangers most in need, and, as a result of our participation, Oceans Without Borders have received further Catalyst and Evolution grants too.
Zuka’s partnership with Tusk is effective and great fun, as we grow our Wildlife Ranger Challenge year by year! We are aligned in our endeavours and work to create lasting impact in the conservation sector. Our combined efforts not only provide crucial financial support to ranger teams but also highlight to a global audience the importance of wildlife protection and community engagement in preserving our planet’s diverse ecosystems.
